About me and Woof Gang Training and Services

My love for animals started very young, when I was residing in Nairobi Kenya in 1989-1994, living there made me become what I am now.  Going to Safari Parks, seeing wild animals, watching National Geographic, Animal Planet and Lonely planet.  All that has got me very curious of the animal world.  Eventually when moving to Thailand from 1994 until 2008,  I eventually finished my degree in Mutlimedia Design and volunteered at the 'Soi Dogs and Cats Rescue'.

In 2008, I moved to Malaysia and volunteered at SPCA SELANGOR for a year, doing rescuing, outreach events, fostering and rehabilitating dogs.  Along the way, I adopted two dogs from SPCA SELANGOR.

In 2014, I wanted to continue working with animals by becoming a full time dog trainer, who specialized in behavior problems.  I am the Founder of Woof Gang dog Training and it is based in Malaysia. Woof Gang training and services provides a wide range of services. We solve behavior issues, do basic obedience and Professional Training.

Our Mission / Training

Our mission is to help dog owners learn the most effective training methods to raise their dogs (and puppies) to become happy, obedient, and well-behaved family pets for the rest of their lives.

Woof Gang dog training approach to training dogs is vastly different from most. We have learned how NOT to inflict pain but rather to guide them and refocus more.

Woof Gang dog training training methods for dogs who has a behavior issue, usually starts with a leash acting as a collar, the hand as a guide to redirect the dogs, our energy to bond and our voice to calm, refocus and corrections.  Those who bought Prong Collars, please ensure you understand the equipment itself and the usage.  If misused, it leads to cruelty!

Woof Gang dog training focus on rewarding dogs for the good decisions they make. This revolutionary training method results in dogs that are totally obedient— not because they are forced to but because they want to.

When dealing with behavioral problems most of the time the behavior can be corrected with some form of obedience. If you have to use a piece of food to get your dog to do anything, he is simply amusing you for the food. If you look up obedience in the dictionary you will find that it is defined as "The willingness to follow". This would imply someone is the leader. Dogs are pack animals by nature and have a natural instinct to rise up to the highest level in the pack that they can. They do not seek equality nor want it. In the dog world its "Lead or be led". Who is the leader in your pack? First you must put yourself in the drivers seat. Second you have to develop the willingness in your dog to follow you as the leader. No one wants a dog that does obedience because he feels he has to or else. You want your dog to do his obedience with an enthusiastic willing attitude. At Woof Gang dog training we use real life methods of training that have proven time after time to get the best and quickest results. This is done by understanding the nature of a dog and using the dog’s natural drives and instincts in an effort to achieve these specific goals:

Focus - Getting the dogs attention is imperative. It is impossible to teach anyone anything if they are not paying attention.

Communication - The dog must know the meaning of the commands once you have the dogs attention, you can condition the dog to associate a certain action with a command or hand signal in order to earn rewards.

Dominance - It is also imperative that the dog looks up to you as the leader of the pack with love and respect and when given a command, simply follows without hesitation.

To have a good obedient pet you must achieve all three of these goals to be successful. In the training you receive how to develop a fantastic relationship with your dog by learning to be the leader rather than allowing your dog to lead you.

Wouldn't it be nice to have your dog walk on a loose leash all the time no matter what? Have your dog lie down and stay during supper when you have your friends over? Know your dog will come to you when you call him regardless of what he is doing? These are only some of the things you will learn at Woof Gang dog training.

As all master trainers who want to improve the lives of dogs and their humans, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of dog training. All of our training programs, lessons, and coaching strictly adhere to the following guiding principles:

  • No matter what the situation, Woof Gang training and services shall NEVER use a technique on a dog that inflicts physical pain. Prohibited techniques include hitting a dog for no reason; scolding a dog; unnecessary usage of equipment to use as punishment such as choking or excessive shocking giving any physical corrections with the intent to create pain.

  • Woof Gang training and services ALWAYS train logically with a clear set of achievable objectives. Such objectives include creating training game plans in which dogs can be successful 80 percent of the time while also ensuring that dogs master the skill at hand.

  • In the event that a behavior needs to be suppressed, it shall ONLY be suppressed by taking away something the dog values, such as play or freedom. This technique operates on the same principle as getting a ticket for driving inappropriately, resulting in the loss of money.

  • All of my training lessons must ALWAYS have a strong emphasis on play and making the training pleasurable for dogs and their owners. Even the most mundane tasks can become exciting when incorporated with games like fetch, tugging, and play-wrestling.

Our guiding principles serve two purposes: to protect our beloved animals from abuse and the behavioral problems often created by traditional training methods and to prevent dogs from ever stepping foot inside a shelter.

Effective training is the key to both of these principles. According to a recent study conducted by the National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy (NCPPSP), 96 percent of dogs that are abandoned and/or given to a shelter had not received any obedience training. This is why understanding and training your dog is critical to ensure that your dog lives a happy, long life with you.

Woof Gang dog training methods will help you build a lasting relationship with your dog, one built on trust and mutual respect. When you participate in one of my training courses, you will experience the true meaning of the saying “Dog is man’s best friend” as we truly love our dogs, and they love us.
